JAPANESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP 2026: TEACHER TRAINING STUDENTS

This scholarship is open to trained teachers from Sierra Leone. It is for international teachers who wish to conduct research on school education at Japanese universities.  

QUALIFICATIONS
Nationality: Applicants must be Sierra Leonean citizens.
Age: Applicants must have been born on or after April 2, 1991.
Japanese Language: Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese.
Health: Applicants must have no physical or mental conditions hindering the applicant’s study in Japan. (* Only shortlisted applicants will submit medical certificate. The Embassy of Japan in Ghana will inform those who will submit the medical certificate)
Duration of Study: The term of scholarship is 18 months (including 6 months of Japanese language studies)
Return and Continue to Work after the End of the Scholarship Period: An applicant must assure that he/she would return to his/her home country by the end of the final month of the scholarship period and resume their work as a teacher.

  1. The scholarship schedule COULD BE CHANGED OR EVEN CANCELLED depending on prevailing circumstances.
  2. Sierra Leonean applicants are to note that they must request and pick up sealed official transcript(s) from their previous University or Teacher Training College which must be addressed to
