On 27 February 2026, the Ambassador YOSHIMOTO exchanged USD 116,320 grant contract between Mr. Dauda Koroma of The Needy Today in Freetown. Through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP), the Government of Japan will fund the construction of a six-classroom primary school building and water and sanitation facilities in Makondo Village, Karene District. Once completed, the new school will provide a cleaner and safer learning environment for 300 students and increase capacity to enroll more children from surrounding villages.
