On July 1, 2025, our embassy, in collaboration with the Ghana Ministry of Health, held an online Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP) lecture series.

The event began with opening remarks from His Excellency Mr.Hiroshi Yoshimoto, Ambassador of Japan; Mr. Rolf Olson, Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy; Dr. Daniel Barradas of the U.S. CDC, Ghana; and Professor Ernest Kenu, Head of FETP Ghana. Following the opening remarks, lectures were presented by Dr. Tomomasa Sunagawa, Director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (Japan); Dr. Muhammad Wasif Malik of the Pakistan CDC; Dr. Yuho Matsumoto of the Brazilian infectious disease control agency; and Dr. Joseph Asamoah, Health Safety and Technology Advisor, Ghana. Over 140 participants attended the online event.

Since the establishment of the Ghana FETP in 2007 with the support of the U.S. CDC, this four-nation FETP online lecture series (involving Japan, Pakistan, and Brazil) aimed to enhance public health and disease prevention capabilities. We anticipate strengthened collaborative relationships and further knowledge acquisition in the future.
